With help through a Housing First program, Gordon was able to move from the street and reclaim his life. His future is looking optimistic, thanks in part to Alberta's 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness and provincial funding for outreach supports.

Tawnay is a graduate of a program in Edmonton that prepared her to apprentice as an electrician. The program offers students below market rental units, which provided Tawny and her son a safe and affordable place to live while she studied. (Note: These units received funding prior to the release of the Affordable Housing Task Force Report).

Alberta's success in spurring development of over 11,000 safe and affordable housing is a direct result of the tremendous partnerships the Alberta government has with non-profit organizations, the private sector and other levels of government. The partnership model leverages respective strengths and resources—allowing more people to be helped by building more units in a shorter timeframe, and tailoring projects to meet the unique needs of the community. These investments are part of Alberta's commitment to prevent and end homelessness, ensure adequate housing, and put Alberta in a better position to manage the province’s next phase of growth.
